Infos Louvain-la-Neuve
A little historyOnce upon a time there was a Belgian story...
This new town was built in the early 1970s following the "Louvain affair" and the split of the Catholic University of Louvain between its Dutch-speaking part, which remained in Leuven, and its French-speaking part, which left the Flemish Region to settle a few tens of kilometers further south, in the Walloon Region. Louvain-la-Neuve is the seat of the Université catholique de Louvain (UCLouvain), which is now distinct from the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (KU Leuven).
